CompTIA A+

CompTIA A+ certification is the industry standard for computer technicians. The A+ certification course will offer you the latest skills and a broad base of knowledge and competency in operating system technologies and core hardware. For corporations
such as Microsoft, Novell and Hewlett-Packard ComptTIA A+ certifications are mandatory for their technicians. After successfully completing the CompTIA A+ course you will be able to gain a world recognised certification allowing you to progress in your career.

Entry Requirements

A+ Certification is ideal for anyone who wishes to gain a basic understanding of computer network technology. An existing level 1 qualification or familiarity with basic PC use such as windows and internet navigation is essential.

The course is suited for beginners who have basic knowledge but also experienced individuals who are looking to upgrade their skills in order to successfully perform as an entry-level computer service technician.

You should also have a PC with Windows Vista Home Premium operating system of higher.

Syllabus

In the CompTIA A+ course you will learn the skills to perform tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking. It also covers domains such as security, safety and environmental issues, communication and professionalism. There is a great demand for qualified technicians within the IT industry.

There are 11 topic areas and you will learn a different range of subjects including:

  • RAM
  • Motherboard
  • Removable media
  • Graphic and sound cards
  • Peripheral devices
  • Microprocessors
  • Maintain efficiency of any PC
  • Printers
  • Assemble a computer
  • Upgrade a computer system
  • Troubleshoot for common faults

Exams: There are 2 online exams and you will be able sit them at the training provider training centre.

Qualifications

After successfully completing the CompTIA A+ course you will be able to gain a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional Certification which is a world recognised certification allowing you to progress further with your career.

Jobs and Careers

After completing the CompTIA A+ course you will be able to progress within the IT industry and apply for jobs such as computer engineer or computer technician with an average salary around £20K and £30K*

Possible work environments include mobile or corporate settings, remote-based work environments, where client interaction and client training as well as operating systems, and connectivity issues are emphasized.
