Work Responsibilities
As a network administrator you would be responsible for the maintenance of computer hardware and software. Your responsibilities would also include the deployment, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of active equipment. You would also concentrate on the overall health of the network and server deployment. Administrators also may plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
Skills Required
It is desirable to have a good overall knowledge of computer systems as well as experience with hardware and software. A good understanding of networking operational system, network equipment and network protocol is advantageous.
Work Hours and Environment
As a network administrator you can work in a variety of environments, including professional offices, small businesses, government organizations, and large corporations. Administrators also may plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures. The work hours are usually 9 to 5 obviously depending on the company open hours.
Salary
Network administrator professionals can earn from £30k to over £80k.
