Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
The Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification is an internationally recognised qualification that demonstrates your proficiency to design and implement Microsoft windows server solutions for businesses. Entry Requirements
You will have experience administering client and network operating systems; although, this is not mandatory. The course will cover a broad array of Windows Server 2003 skills.
You should also have a PC with an operating system of Windows XP Professional, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista Ultimate or Windows 7 Professional.
Syllabus
You will gain skills of Windows Server 2003. For instance, you will learn the planning and maintenance of Windows Server 2003 network infrastructure, also how to implement and maintain Windows Server 2003 network infrastructures, as well as managing and maintaining environments and implementing administering security.
You will learn a diverse selection of subjects including:
- An introduction to Windows Server 2003
- Windows Server 2003 security features
- Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
- Troubleshooting Windows Server 2003 networks
- Network configuration
- Windows XP administration
- Managing and troubleshooting software updates
- Planning and deploying Internet Protocol Security (IPSec)
- Troubleshooting access problems
Each new study topic adds to the knowledge you have already gained, and you should be able to complete the entire course within approximately 160 hours of study. There are tools to help you such as 'Independent practice activity' designed to reinforce and help your learning.
Exams: there are 3 core exams and one elective exam:
- Exam 70-290: Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment (Core networking systems exam)
- Exam 70-291: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure (Core networking systems exam)
- Exam 70-270: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Core Operating Systems exam)
- Exam 70-299: Implementing and Administering Security in a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network (Elective exam)
Qualifications
You will be able to acquire two possible qualifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). They are ideal and recommended if you want to pursue a career in the IT industry.
